Practice your 24 shot clock operation skills

ShotClock Pro is a free online basketball shot clock you can use directly in your browser. Start the 24-second countdown, apply the 14-second reset after an offensive rebound, and hear the buzzer when time runs out — just like a real game.
Quick Reference Rules & Operator Checklist
Keep these essentials in mind while you practise. They cover the decisions that come up in almost every possession, plus a short routine to run before each session so the clock is ready when the ball goes up.
Quick reference (FIBA)
- New possession: reset to 24 and start when a player on court gains control of a live ball, or legally touches the ball on a throw-in. A new possession that starts with a frontcourt throw-in after a foul or violation gets 14.
- Ball touches the ring: if the offence regains control, reset to 14; if the defence gains control, reset to 24.
- Defensive foul or violation, frontcourt throw-in: 14 or more showing continues; 13 or fewer resets to 14. Backcourt throw-in resets to 24.
- Ball out of bounds, same team keeps it: no reset — continue from the time shown.
- New control with less than 14 seconds on the game clock: switch the shot clock off once the ball is dead and the game clock is stopped.
- Shot in the air at the buzzer: no violation if the ball then touches the ring or enters the basket.
Operator checklist
- Device charged, auto-lock disabled, and landscape orientation set.
- Buzzer tested at a volume you can hear over crowd noise.
- Keyboard shortcuts checked, or both thumbs ready on the touch controls.
- Know the difference between stopping (hold the time) and resetting (new value).
- Eyes on the ball and the referees — glance at the display only after each action.
- After a mistake, correct the time with + / − while the clock is stopped.
- Stop on every whistle first, then decide: continue, reset to 24, or reset to 14.
